A water softener, utilizing an ion exchange system, removes magnesium
and calcium from water by replacing them with sodium ions. As hard water enters
the mineral tank, it passes through a bed of resin beads that capture the
mineral ions and release sodium ions in return. Hard water can lead to clogged
pipes and damage boilers, heat exchangers, and various other equipment. A water
softener system helps prevent these issues by reducing the risk of lime scale
buildup in industrial, commercial, and residential water systems.
